About 500jobs
What is 500jobs?
500jobs tracks hiring activity across S&P 500 companies in near real-time. We aggregate open job listings from official corporate career pages and present them as an interactive heatmap, company profiles, searchable job feed, and trend analytics — giving job seekers, investors, and analysts a clear picture of where America's largest companies are growing.
Data Sources
All job data is sourced directly from official company career pages and their underlying applicant tracking systems (ATS), including Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, SuccessFactors, iCIMS, SmartRecruiters, Workable, and Ashby. We do not scrape third-party job boards.
Our scrapers run on adaptive intervals — companies that post frequently are checked more often, while those with slower hiring cycles are checked less frequently. Most companies are refreshed at least once per day.
Methodology
The hiring heatmap on the homepage uses a treemap visualization where:
- Rectangle size is proportional to the total number of active open positions at each company.
- Color represents hiring momentum — green indicates 30-day growth in total open positions, while red indicates a decline. The intensity reflects the magnitude of change. A dark zinc tone means we don't have enough history to compute a trend yet.
- Grouping uses hiring-native industry groups (17 industries) rather than stock-market sectors, so you can compare hiring activity across industries the way job seekers actually think about them.
Change is calculated using a hybrid approach: when daily snapshot history is available, we compare the current live job count against the snapshot from 30 days ago. For newer companies without full history, we use the earliest available snapshot as a baseline. When no snapshots exist yet, we fall back to comparing the volume of new job postings in the current 30-day window against the previous 30-day window. "Biggest movers" are ranked by the percentage change between these periods.
Disclaimer
500jobs is an aggregation and analytics tool. We do not host job applications — all "Apply" and "View" links direct you to the company's official career page. Job listing data may have a slight delay depending on scrape intervals, and we cannot guarantee 100% accuracy or completeness of listings at any given time.
